Client : Hacettepe University
Hacettepe University Music and Performance Arts Lycee and Ballet Middle School has been planned on the same sloping site to the west of the Hacettepe Conservatory Building, thus sharing the same parcel and forming a complex. The School is 6,353.35 m2 in area. Close visual and physical proximity of the School to the Conservatory has been seeked during planning, thus allowing the students to be able to use the facilities of the Conservatory freely.
There are 8 class rooms for the middle school and 8 for the lycee, thus totaling 16 classrooms in all. A covered sports hall and all the essential laboratories and workshops have been planned. There is no cafeteria in the school building; the students are expected to use the dining facilities as well as all the spaces related to musical and stage performances (including ballet) in the Conservatory building.
The school is planned around a large ceremonial square, also to be used as a playground. Wood veneered aluminium composite panels, stucco and exposed concrete have been used on the facades. Andesite stone which has been used on the facades of the Conservatory has also been used here; thus forming a visual relation between the two buildings.
